Chapter Three:
Soon I Would Have A New Best Friend.
By: Victor Scardella

Soon I would have a new best friend to have adventures with.
Keith and his family moved into the neighborhood and life was good again !
I would also meet some other kids in the neighborhood and the neighborhood would begin to grow smaller as I began to grow up !
As the days, weeks, months and years past, (ever so quickly, it seems now), I thought I would never grow up as I went through my childhood.
But, now I long for those precious days of childhood innocence once again, as I face my future as a middle aged man.
I realize my life seems so uncertain and I feel like I have squandered my youth away.
This year (2008) is the year my thirty (30) year high school reunion is supposed to be, but, so far I have not gotten any information on it, although it is only June now.
The last reunion was held in September of 1998 for the twenty (20) year reunion.
That was a lot of fun seeing people I had gone to school with those many years ago.
When I arrived in Rochester after being gone for twenty (20) years, I was saddened to learn that some of my friends who I had grew up with had killed themselves on drugs before they had a chance to experience life as adults !
If I could say one thing to the kids of today,  I would say "
Don't Throw Your Life Away To Drugs"!
Don't miss out on the chance to live life and experience all the glorious adventures that life might bring your way"!
Our graduation theme song of 1978 was: "
do you know where your going to, do you like the things that life is showing you, where are you going to, do you know ?"   As I contemplate that song and it's meaning, I can't help thinking : when I graduated from high school, I couldn't wait to get out into that great big world and experience it for myself !   Now that I have experienced it for the past thirty (30) years, I wish I hadn't been in such a hurry !!
I feel like a have burned up the path getting to where I am now.
Granted,  some of my adventures were fun, but, some were very hard on me !
So much so, that I now feel like my body is aged far beyond my actual years and I now have the body of someone twice my age !
All I can say is : "
SLOW DOWN, YOUNG PEOPLE !   DON'T BURN YOURSELVES OUT TOO SOON !!
Pace yourselves and enjoy all of what life has to offer !!   But, don't get too lazy either !"
