Section Three : The
History of Jack-Nair Heights. Chapter Two : The First Person I Met. By: Victor Scardella |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
The
first person I met in my new neighborhood was Karen. She lived
just two (2) houses down from me. We would become good friends
and played together almost every day the first few summers that I lived in
the new neighborhood. She was a couple years older than I but,
I think we both enjoyed having someone to call a friend in each
other. I have fond memories of our times together. The second person I met was Davey and he lived in the farm house over past McNair Drive. We played together a lot too but, he and his family would have to move away before too long. But, not before he taught me how to become a REAL explorer ! He showed me how to find my way around in the woods. We had some great adventures in just a short time ! But, I will never forget it and I cherish the memories. Even though Karen was my friend, she was a girl and we just did not have a lot in common. Davey was like me, a boy who loved adventure and so, we were "Best Friends" who enjoyed similar interests. Davey and I liked to watch a musical group on TV called : "The Monkeys" ! They inspired us to imagine we were in a musical group too and we would pretend to play the guitar and drums. I still remember such songs from The Monkeys as : "I'm A Believer" and "Last Train To Clarksville". When Davey and his family moved to the city, I was devastated at the loss of having a best friend to play with and share adventures with. Soon I would have a new best friend to have adventures with. |
