| I
remember spending hours riding my bicycle around our neighborhood, up
Jacklyn
Drive,
across the gravel road by the swamp and down McNair
Drive to
Senga
Drive,
then back to Jacklyn Drive again. Around and
around, over and over and over again. For hours on end until I
finally would get tired or thirsty or bored and pull into our driveway for
a break. Sometimes, one of my friends would be outside of their house and I would stop to see what they were doing. My family mostly had above ground swimming pools and so did most of my friends. Only Keith and his family had an In-Ground or Built In swimming pool. We always found somewhere to take a cool dip and get refreshed when we played in the hot summer days ! I can remember playing such swimming pool games as "Marko Polo" and Water Basketball. In the winter time, we enjoyed playing in the snow and I don't remember getting too cold. But, now as an adult, I really feel it and I don't like it !! NO Ha Ha there !! We had all four (4) seasons where I grew up : Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall. Each one had it's own, unique way of entertaining us as kids. And each holiday was like a marker in our lives. Just like a set of notches cut along a door post. A sort of measuring stick to measure our growth through out our childhood lives. |
